First Chance Center

First Chance Center offers Day Programming in our facility or services can take place in the community for persons with disabilities. Programming supports learning and assistance in the areas of self-care, sensory/motor development, socialization and daily living skills. Participant Assistance and Care helps individuals to remain in their home and participate in their communities. We offer Community Employment Services to assist individuals with disabilities to obtain competitive employment within an integrated community work setting. Extended Services is an employment service for individuals needing on-going support to obtain and retain employment in the community. We provide Orange County Transit Services, a demand response public transportation system. FCC Industries offers an affirmative work setting for people with/without disabilities. Includes janitorial, lawn care mobile crews and sewing for Envision Designs– producing our own custom designed handcrafted purses & totes.

Upon completing my schooling in 1964, I joined the U.S. Army. I served 6 years as a medic and later a Payroll Clerk. After leaving the military I went into business for myself for over 40 years. A friend at church introduced me to Orange County Transit where I have now worked for the past 11 years, and it has been perfect for me in so many ways. It is very fulfilling helping individuals and transporting people who are in need. It gives me a rewarding work environment without an excessive time commitment or mental pressure. I highly recommend what I do for Orange County Transit.

Created by a group of parents in 1969 who saw the need to serve an unserved and often ignored population, First Chance Center has grown from humble beginnings. The mission to promote abilities and provide opportunities for persons with disabilities or other barriers to fully participate in their community has always been the heart of what we do. Our employees at First Chance Center are the heartbeat that moves us forward each day to complete the mission. Supporting, caring and sacrificing for those we serve across many programs to help them live their best life.

First Chance Center is located in Paoli, Indiana, which is situated in Southern Indiana. Nestled in the rolling hills, natural forests and lakes of Southeast Indiana is a growing defense hub leading innovation in unmanned systems, robotics, and cyber security.
