Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations

IPBS member stations are seeking Broadcast Engineers and Technicians who possess a strong service orientation and excellent technical and communication skills. Our broadcast engineers and technicians do much more than maintain radio frequency transmitters and studios. They are responsible for system design, equipment installation, configuration, documentation, diagnostics, maintenance for on-air origination, production and post-production, media encoding, quality control, disaster recovery, data network interconnection, and more. IPBS member stations have begun the transition from purely antenna-based technologies to platforms that combine antenna technologies with internet-powered tools to deliver the next generation of digital broadcasting. Our stations are located in Bloomington, Elkhart, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Merrillville, Muncie, South Bend, Vincennes, and West Lafayette.

I served in the Army from 1991 to 2002. From 1996 onward, I proudly served the Army Special Operations Forces as an avionics mechanic at Ft Campbell, KY. Today I "run" a small TV/Radio station and a small business as the Director of Technology & Broadcast (Chief Engineer). I say “run” because that’s what my small engineering team does. We run the equipment. Our station President and CEO commands the organization. Everybody else operates it. We are a lean team that gets a-lot done. The Army taught me how to stow the ego and stay focused while under pressure. My teammate and I work for each other as a team and our team serves the organization - united.
Jason Yaser, U.S. Army Special Operations Forces, Director of Technology at WNIN Tri-State Public Media
